Two new faces on the Sooke School Board

Bob Beckett and Allison Watson become SD62 trustees

There is two new faces on the Sooke School Board.

Former Langford fire chief Bob Beckett and Allison Watson will join Ravi Parmar, Dianna Seaton, Wendy Hobbs, Margot Swinburnson and Bob Phillips.

Voters in SD62 elected seven trustees for the district with four coming from the West Shore and three from Sooke and Port Renfrew.

Parmar led the polls with 5,760 votes, followed by Beckett with 4,920, Seaton with 4,690, Hobbs with 4,669 and from the Sooke area Watson with 2,380, Swinburnson with 2,374 and Phillips with 2,282.

Also on the ballot from the West Shore but did not claim seats was Trudy Spiller with 4,068 votes, followed by Russ Chipps with 2,909, Cendra Beaton with 2,345, and Blair Sloane with 1,848.

From the Sooke and Port Renfrew areas, Neil Poirier had 2,088 votes while Britt Santowski had 1,509.

Polls closed at 8 p.m. Saturday during the final day of voting in the 2018 election but results from the race didn’t come in until early Sunday morning.
