After needing four straight overtimes to beat the Saanich Braves in a six-game playoff series, the Westshore Wolves face a tall task in the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League’s South Division final.

The Wolves face the defending league champion Victoria Cougars in a best-of-seven series that will see if the Westshore crew has found a way to beat their divisional rivals. The Wolves went 2-6 against the Cougars this season.

Game 1 goes at 7:15 p.m. Thursday (March 5) at Archie Browning Sports Centre, with game 2 set for this Saturday at 7 p.m. at The Q Centre.

Sunday’s game 3 at 3:30 p.m. shifts back to Esquimalt, with game 4 scheduled for Tuesday, March 10 back in Colwood.

Last Friday, Clay Carson scored from Quentin McShane 14:43 into the second overtime to give the Wolves the series victory over the Braves. It was Carson's second goal of the game.

Saanich, needing a win to stay alive, took a 4-2 lead early in the third period on a goal by Dayne Ellison, but the Wolves rebounded with goals from McShane four minutes in, and Corey Peterson at 1the 10:52 mark.

McShane set up Rylan Ball for the winner 1:52 into the first overtime in a 4-3 win last Wednesday.
