Projected cost of View Royal fire hall seems fair

What have you built in life similar to qualify you to determine what a fire hall should cost?

To all the naysayers who insist the $8-million loan to build a new View Royal fire hall and $6 million in interest over 20 years is too expensive, just how much do you think building a fire hall should cost?

How much for the material and how much to pay the skilled electricians, masonries, plummers etc?

What have you built in life similar to qualify you to determine what a fire hall should cost?

Too bad you didn’t direct any of your energy into working out what the total $14 million would cost each of the 3,500 View Royal rate payers per year.

I did the math for you and it will only be $200 per house per year. It will even be less when you factor in that businesses in View Royal will be pitching in with their city taxes, and even less when you have to conclude that over 20 years View Royal will grow like all other municipalities, broadening the tax base.

You just see the $8 million and say “oh my gosh that’s a lot of money. Too much money.”
