The attractive if not practical traffic circle in Langford’s core is an accident waiting to happen.
Too much distraction for drivers: fountain, sometime lighted, abundant planting that’s not low growth and deficient crosswalk signalling.
How are drivers supposed to see the lighting strips imbedded in the asphalt and watch out for other cars and pedestrians — all at the same time?
Better crosswalk warning signals are required, even if they do offend the décor. As is, seeking an alternate driving route is safer.
