UPDATE: Wind warning in effect Wednesday for Greater Victoria

Gusts expected to reach nearly 80 kilometres per hour this morning

The windy winter weather the Capital Region experienced Monday isn’t about to let up yet.

Environment Canada has issued a wind warning for the Capital Region and other areas of the B.C. coastline for Wednesday morning, meaning residents should try to ensure any loose items outside are stored away or tied down.

The 8:30 through 10:40 a.m. Harbour Air flights out of the Inner Harbour have been cancelled due to the inclement weather.

After some minor delays this morning, flights out of Victoria International Airport appear to be back on schedule.

Winds are being clocked at 30 to 50 kilometres per hour over areas of Greater Victoria and are expected to increase to up to 80 km/h later this morning. The winds are expected to ease this afternoon to about 30 km/h, then gain intensity late this evening and overnight.

Currently no cancellations of B.C. Ferries sailings have been reported. The Coastal Renaissance left at 9:04 a.m. for Tsawwassen and the next scheduled sailing from Swartz Bay is 11 a.m.
