UPDATE: Two motorists injured after Malahat crash

Signs indicating icy, slippery conditions on mountain pass

Two people were transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries after a head-on collision at Split Rock Lookout near the Malahat summit late Tuesday morning.

Reports indicate a black minivan crossed the centre line and collided with a commercial vehicle. There was extensive damage to the minivan and rescue crews had to cut the driver, the lone occupant of the minivan, out of the vehicle.

The Malahat reopened to traffic at approximately 3:45 p.m. Tuesday, after being closed for roughly four hours.
