A sharp-eyed Langford resident helped West Shore RCMP arrest a habitual thief last week.
On Feb. 21, at around 1:30 p.m. a woman in the 2700 block of Kingswood Road saw a unfamiliar man rummaging around in the two vehicles parked across the street at her neighbour’s home.
She called West Shore RCMP, who promptly arrested a 24-year-old man walking along Goldstream Avenue.
The suspect, a West Shore resident of no fixed address, had been released from custody just hours earlier.
“He was just released that morning from custody on an unrelated matter,” said Const. Julie Chanin with West Shore RCMP. “Within a couple of hours we picked him up.”
The vehicles were not damaged and police say the man stole a small amount of cash. He is known to police and RCMP are recommending charges of thief under $5,000.
Chanin thanked the resident for watching out for her neighbourhood and acting quickly.
“We value the watchful and concerned citizens of our community,” she said.
