The District of Highlands is seeking volunteers to sit on the district’s select committees and board of variance.

The district has spots available on its board of variance, heritage select committee, social sustainability select committee, and sustainable land use select committee. Volunteer terms for the select committees will end on Dec. 31, 2024, while terms for the board of variance end Dec. 31, 2025.

While those volunteering for the committees will be able to contribute to decision making on matters affecting the entire district, there are also opportunities for volunteers to participate as an e-participant.

Those volunteers are not able to vote on agenda items, but are able to provide feedback on them without having to attend the meetings.

Applications must be submitted to corporate officer Melisa Miles either in-person at 1980 Millstream Rd, or by email at mmiles@highlands.ca by Dec. 29. Each application must include a letter outlining the details of the applicant’s relevant background for the committee they are applying for.

For more information on the committees and the application process, contact the district at 250-474-1773.
