Welcome to your freshly minted edition of goldstreamgazette.com.

We’ve updated our website to optimize the digital experience for our readers as we continually strive to improve our online product, along with maintaining our twice-a-week print edition.

“Our new site will allow us to post up-to-the minute breaking news, community features, sports stories and opinion columns faster and easier than ever before,” said Gazette publisher Christine Scott. “We believe this will have numerous benefits for our readers.”

On the main ‘Home’ screen you’ll find a rundown of the day’s top stories from the West Shore, as well as provincial and national stories that will have an impact locally. That means no more scrolling down to see more than one or two stories; the latest local news will all be clickable from the very top of our site.

In the top right-hand corner you’ll find our latest video post. These will be produced primarily by our team here at the Gazette and our sister publications in the Black Press chain, but we welcome any and all user submissions as well.

To do that, you can get in touch with us via the ‘Contact’ menu item at the top of our page, and news tips and photos can be submitted under that tab as well.

This is your community digital news outlet and we want to hear from you!

“We’re all excited about the reader-friendly and mobile-suited functions the new website contains,” said Gazette editor Don Descoteau. “The updated technology allows us to tell and present community news in a more entertaining and efficient way, which we hope readers will embrace and use as their go-to information source for the West Shore and beyond.”

Scrolling down from the main ‘Home’ screen, you’ll find a section featuring eight more fresh and topical stories.

Further, you’ll find sections for Video, Community, News, Sports and a new feature called Buzz – the items creating chatter around social media and the proverbial water cooler – as well as our most read stories from the past week and the latest e-Edition of our print product. All of this can also be accessed from the main drop-down menu in the top left corner of the menu bar.

We welcome any questions or comments with regards to our new website. Feel free to get in touch with us at editor@goldstreamgazette.com or cscott@goldstreamgazette.com.
