Colwood wins Victoria Flower Count for a five-peat

The 43rd annual Flower Count had over three billion blossoms counted in total

For the fifth straight year, Colwood has won the most “bloomingest” community in the Victoria Flower Count.

Colwood counted a total of 2,029,598,802 blossoms. The runner-up was Saanich, counting 721,903,164 blossoms.

Ecole John Stubbs Memorial in Colwood was the winning elementary school, counting 1,800,000,000 blossoms and winning a trip to The Butchart Gardens, a prize donated by L.A. Limousines.

“Colwood is proud to take top prize in the 43rd annual Victoria Flower Count” Colwood Mayor Carol Hamilton said in the news release. “Colwood residents and students have fun with this lighthearted activity that showcases the many naturally beautiful areas Colwood is known for. Students are our secret weapon! Congratulations to Ecole John Stubbs Memorial students on their well-deserved win.”

In total, there were 3,467,394,781 blossoms counted during the week-long event.
