Two drivers had their vehicles impounded Thursday afternoon after police were called about a pair of reckless drivers on Blanshard Street.

Around 1 p.m. Saanich police received multiple calls about the aggressive drivers, who were seen accelerating and burning out their tires, and racing along Blanshard.

Witnesses reported that one of the vehicles made contact with other on the red light at Cloverdale Avenue in an apparent attempt to push it into the intersection.

The vehicles were seen entering the underground parking garage at Uptown. Two bike squad officers located the cars, unoccupied, and waited for their drivers to return.

Two men, both in their 20s, admitted to driving the vehicles. Each of them had their licences suspended.

The two cars, a 1990 Subaru and a 2000 Chrysler, were impounded under the province’s street racing legislation.
