Academy of Learning Career College’s Lisa Kratzmann just wants her neighbours in the West Shore to know what’s in their backyard.
When the Academic Advisor read a recent study that said West Shore high school graduates didn’t have enough local options for post-secondary education, three words popped into her head.
“What about us?”
Lisa says there are lots of great opportunities for SD 62 graduates to learn locally and prepare for a rewarding career. The study found that proximity to a post-secondary institution was a major factor in getting high school students to continue their education. So it’s great that there’s so much going on at the Academy of Learning’s West Shore campus at 715 Goldstream Avenue!
The change you want tomorrow, starting today!
One of the programs Lisa is really proud of these days is the Medical Office Assistant (M.O.A.) with Unit Clerk Diploma.
“There are a ton of jobs for M.O.A.s right now in Greater Victoria,” she says, “Both with VIHA — the largest employer on Vancouver Island — and with private clinics and offices.”
If you’re an excellent communicator with good attention to detail, this career lets you help others in a hands-on administrative and clinical support role. Work in a hospital or clinic, group homes and research centres —there are plenty of opportunities!
If the medical field isn’t the right fit for you, the Academy of Learning Career College has lots of other affordable education options in business and administration, graphic and web design, information technology, accounting, community service work and more!
“One recent graduate, Misty Mack, took the M.O.A. with Unit Clerk diploma, and she was hired before she even graduated!” Lisa says.
