‘Small but mighty’: New library coming to Eagle View Elementary in View Royal

Vancouver Island Construction Association helped to fund the project

The Construction Foundation of BC (CFBC) will help build a ‘take a book, leave a book’ library at Eagle View Elementary in Langford.

“This year, we were fortunate to receive grants to allow us to work on a lending library,” said Dagmar Restell, a teacher for Eagle View Elementary in a press release.

It will be made out of wood, plexiglass windows, green roofing, solar LED and a notice board.

“The grade 4-5 class has worked on this project with me since September. We have been using the design thinking process to come to our final product,” Restell said.

CFBC’s role in the little library included developing and implementing the project as well as purchasing materials.

The Vancouver Island Construction Association’s (VICA) Training Fund partly funded the library.

“VICA welcomes opportunities to contribute to projects that introduce our youth to the world of skilled trades,” said Rory Kulmala, VICA’s Chief Executive Officer.

According to the press release, the library will be a small but powerful resource for the school and community.

“It’s a thrill for our entire team whenever our fund can play a role in the community,” Kulmala said.
