A Langford neighbourhood is celebrating its new community-inspired play space.
Designed with inclusivity in mind, the park at 319 Lone Oak Pl. includes a new playground, walking loop, grass area, picnic tables, bike racks, and an environmental restoration area on 0.4 acres.
Approved in Langford’s 2023 budget, the idea for Lone Oak Park started with a group of passionate residents in the neighbourhood.

The playground features 20 different play elements designed to promote strategic thinking and physical development. It also has a sensory play wall for children with diverse needs seeking stimuli. Designed to be inclusive of all needs and abilities, including those who use mobility supports, this playground provides a place for all children to partake in the joy of play.
“This is an excellent example of the power of community coming together to advocate for the betterment of the city,” Mayor Scott Goodmanson said in a news release. “As a growing community, neighbourhood spaces like these are more important now than ever. I hope this encourages residents to continue to participate in public engagement opportunities.”
The land was dedicated to Langford as parkland through the subdivision of two lots on Mill Hill Road prior to incorporation in 1992 and officially opened April 15.
