The West Shore RCMP detachment is hosting a barbecue and a garage sale of donated items in support of the annual Tour de Rock ride this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Funds raised from Tour de Rock and related events go to the Canadian Cancer Society, with a focus on helping children that are battling the disease.
Fourteen police officers will take part in the ride, including the West Shore's Const. Elyse Patten. The journey will take the riders on a 1,000 kilometre trip across Vancouver Island over the course of 14 days.
