PHOTOS: Summer of Beach Food and Music Saturdays kicks off in Colwood

West Coast Soul Collective headlined first event of the year at Esquimalt Lagoon

Live music is officially back at the Esquimalt Lagoon, and beachgoers can expect a summer full of good vibes every Saturday.

West Coast Soul Collective had the honours of headlining the City of Colwood’s first Beach Food and Music Saturdays event of the season May 27, performing in front of dozens on a sunny evening.

Crowds lounged in the sand, folding chairs and on driftwood logs while the band played their signature mix of funk and high-energy R&B. In between songs, people meandered over to the food trucks which form the “food” part of Beach Food and Music Saturdays.

Each Friday, Saturday and Sunday throughout the summer, the city hosts food trucks at the Esquimalt Lagoon, with Saturdays featuring the added bonus of live music on a beachfront stage from 5 to 7 p.m.

Schedules of each week’s performers and food trucks will be posted on colwood.ca with updates as the season goes on. Those interested in applying to be a performer or food truck operator can also find web forms on the city’s website.
