Fleet Dive Unit turkey runners surpass the mark

More than 650 families on the West Shore will have a turkey this year thanks to the to Fleet Diving Unit’s Turkey Run.

 

More than 650 families on the West Shore will have a turkey this year thanks to the to Fleet Diving Unit’s Turkey Run.

The run on Nov. 30 generated more than $25,000 with a few donations still trickling in.

The goal was to raise $15,000 to cover the cost of providing meat gift certificates for all of the hampers at the West Shore Christmas Hamper Fund.

The additional $10,000 will be spent on toys and gifts for children and teens for the hampers as well.

Last year the run drew in $22,000.
