Langford fire extinguished quickly

West Shore RCMP and Langford Fire Rescue called out after smoke alarm alerts neighbour

On Monday, Sept. 24 at about 5:20 p.m. West Shore RCMP were called out to assist Langford Fire Rescue with a house fire on Walfred Road.

The fire was contained to one room and was quickly extinguished by firefighters. Langford Fire Rescue were called by a neighbouring resident after they heard a smoke alarm.

There was one woman in the house at the time of the fire. She was out by the time emergency services arrived and was taken to hospital for precautionary measures. Deputy fire chief Kerry Zado could not say what the woman’s role in the fire was.

He did say the incident is a good reminder of the importance of having working smoke detectors.

RCMP helped with traffic control. The RCMP major crime unit is investigating the fire to determine the cause.
