WLA Shamrocks win third straight, inch closer to top spot

Victoria pulls within a point of Burrards, host New Westminster on Friday

Jesse King made a triumphant return to the lineup for the Victoria Shamrocks,  scoring four goals and setting up one more as the team beat the Lakers 12-9 in Western Lacrosse Association action Tuesday night in Burnaby.

Corey Small added three goals in the win, which pulled Victoria (6-2) to within a point of Maple Ridge atop the standings. Victoria hosts New Westminster tomorrow night (June 24) at The Q Centre at 7:45 p.m., an evening which will see the retirement of the No. 8 jersey of Fred “Whitey” Severson.

King has been working on a degree at Ohio State University and is only expected to play a handful of league games, plus playoffs this season. He’ll make his first 2016 appearance at home tonight.
