The Rebels have announced that Charly Cardillicchia will be the team's next head coach.

The Westshore Rebels' search for a new head coach has come to a close, as Charly Cardillichia has been named as JC Boice's successor.

The Victoria native has 19 years of coaching experience, including five with the Rebels as an offensive assistant.

He has also coached the junior bantam Saanich Wolverines, leading them to 12 league championships.

"One thing I do know is that great coaching starts with surrounding yourself around a team of specialists who have extensive experience in their respective areas. My job is to bring the right people together to ensure the team gets the support and coaching needed to bring the best out in each player," Cardilicchia said in a statement.

Six assistant coaches will return from the 2016 team that won its first Cullen Cup in over a decade, while seven assistants will be new to the coaching staff in 2017.

Shane Beatty, the Rebels' assistant head coach and director of player development under Boice, has decided to take some time to think about his future with the team as he continues to focus on the development of the Westshore Training Academy.
