The Victoria Grizzlies will be headed to Europe with their families this August, and there are still spaces available.

The organization is sending two junior Grizzlies teams for a hockey tour in Germany, Austria and Italy. One team will be an atom/pee wee age group and the other a bantam/midget aged team.

Each team will particpate in two practices and compete in five games over 10 days. The junior Grizz will play teams from Munich, Innsbruck, Austria and Bolzano, Italy.

Parents can accompany players on the trip and there is opportunity for sight-seeing on the off-days, one of the highlights being a trip to Venice.

Craig Didmon, the Grizzlies head coach and general manager, and Lee Richardson, vice president of hockey operations will coach both teams.

Didmon said in a statement “From past experience, I witnessed the players take great pride in representing Canada and really came together as a team pulling for each other. As individuals they learned more about the team game and became better hockey players because of it. I expect the same style of camaraderie, fun, and memborable hockey experience to occur with these two groups.”

Didmon said the players will have the opportunity to socialize with the other teams after the games and get to know people across the world that share their love of hockey.

The group will be doing a fundraisers in the West Shore, hosting a beer and burger night at Bucky’s Taphouse May 25, a bottle drive May 27 and car wash June 9.
