The University of Victoria Vikes women’s sevens team finished up a perfect weekend on the pitch with a 24-0 win Saturday over UBC Thunderbirds at the U Sports national university sevens rugby championships in Langford.

The Vikes rolled through round robin play at 3-0, then downed the Guelph Gryphons 38-5 in the quarter-finals and McMaster Marauders 29-5 in the semis to reach the title game.

The results were reversed in the men’s sevens, where UBC downed the Vikes 19-5 for gold on Saturday. The Vikes had gone 3-0 in pool play then beat Regina 29-0 and Alberta 49-0 in the runup to the final.

The UVic Norsemen won the men’s bronze medal with a 34-0 win over Alberta, after dropping a 29-0 decision to UBC in the semis.
