Short mat bowls is an indoor version of lawn bowling. Players attempt to score points by rolling a heavy asymmetric ball called a bowl along a mat to gain as many shots as possible by getting their bowls nearer to a small target ball known as the jack. It is a game that requires similar skills to outdoor lawn bowls from which the game derived.
