Lots of action at Western Speedway this weekend

Take in Victoria Shamrocks action tonight (Friday, July 14) when the squad hosts a Harbourcats Night during the Salute to Local Heroes presented by the Langford Legion at The Q Centre.

Fans showing a used HarbourCats ticket will get a general admission bowl ticket for $10 to see the Shamrocks take on the Coquitlam Adanacs.

The next home game for the Shamrocks isn’t until July 28, so enjoy this great opportunity to cheer on your ‘Rocks.

It’s Western Speedway’s Hometown Heroes Night Saturday, July 15.

Enjoy thrilling action from Late Model Drivers Challenge Twin 50s, Stock Cars and Mini Stocks. Come Wednesday, July 19, it’s the Marlin Motors Hornet Series.

With the return of hockey on the horizon, the Westshore Wolves host their prospects camp at Juan de Fuca Arena Aug. 18 and 19. All prospects serious about playing at the Vancouver Island Junior B level are encouraged to register – learn more at westshorewolves.ca.

Those who prefer their hockey with a ball instead of a puck can now play year-round as Greater Victoria Minor Ball Hockey launches a new drop-in fall/winter ball hockey league at Eagle Ridge Arena. Running Sundays from Sept. 10 to Jan. 28 for players from throughout the region, times will be set aside for players between six and 18 years old (birth years 2011 to 1999). Participation in the hour-long drop-in sessions is $95 for the season for more information email registrar@vmbh.ca.

This Friday, July 14, join Cool Aid at Bear Mountain Valley Course at 1:30 pm for the Legacy Golf Tournament, a benefit for Victoria Cool Aid Society in support of the construction of new housing for people who are homeless. For information and event details, visit DriveToEndHomelessness.ca.

In local cricket action, Saturday, July 15 has Metchosin travelling to St. Michaels University School to face Incogs.

And in regional sports, the Victoria HarbourCats continue their homestand with a weekend series with the Burnaby Bulldogs. First pitch for Saturday’s game goes at 6:35 p.m. with Sunday’s matinee game at 1:05 p.m.
