Junior A Shamrocks teeter on brink of elimination

Junior B Tier 1 team has moved on to the semifinals

The Junior A Shamrocks have their backs against the wall to the Coquitlam Adanacs, down 0-2 in the best-of-five series, while the Junior B Tier 1 team swept their best-of-three series against the Richmond Roadrunners.

The first game of the series for the Junior A squad, the Adanacs beat the Shamrocks 8-6. The ’Rocks got out to a 3-1 lead in the first, but the Adanacs scored six unanswered goals between the end of the second period and into the third.

Shamrocks’ Brad McCulley had a hat trick, Braylon Lumb had two goals and two assists, with Marshal King adding three helpers.

Shamrocks had the home advantage in the second game at Save on Foods Memorial Centre, but the Adanacs took the game 8-4.

The Shamrocks came out firing, but the Adanacs had a strong finish. McCulley had one goal and two assists and Marshal King and Caleb Kueber each had one goal and one assist.

The Junior A team plays Game 3 against the Adanacs at the Coquitlam Sports Centre, Saturday, July 21 at 2 p.m., and if necessary Game 4 at The Q Centre Sunday, July 22 at 5 p.m.

The Junior B Tier 1 Shamrocks beat the Roadrunners 10-5 and 12-11 over the weekend.

In the first game, the Roadrunners were able to keep it close until the second.

Shamrocks’ Casey Wilson had four goals, Nic Coleman had four assists and Patrick Dodd had three helpers. The Shamrocks tallied 60 shots on goal.

Richmond pushed the Shamrocks into double overtime in the second game at Minoru Arena, but the ’Rocks came away victorious.

Dodds had three goals and Liam Phillips scored two, including the game-winning goal.

The Junior B Tier 1 team has moved on to the semifinals and will play the winner of the Maple Ridge Burrards and the New Westminster Salmonbellies.
