Hockeyville hopes rest on your votes

Announcement being made this weekend on who will get to host pre-season NHL game and 100K in improvement funds

On Saturday night (March 28), Vancouver Island will know if North Saanich is one of two Canadian communities in the running for an NHL preseason hockey game.

That and $100,000 for arena improvements.

Panorama Rec Centre’s Arena B in is vying for the title of Kraft Hockeyville for 2015. It finished in the top 10 across the country and is the only Island rink in the running. Supporters encouraged people to vote fast and furious last weekend in an attempt to get the rink into the top two.

Tomorrow (March 28) supporters will know if their constant online clicking was enough. Hockey fans around the Capital Region are invited to Arena B Saturday at 6:30 p.m., where Hockey Night in Canada will be on the big screen. Fingers will be crossed during the Hockeyville announcement, expected about 7:45 p.m.

Panorama Recreation Centre is at 1885 Forest Park Dr. off East Saanich Road. For more details visit or call 250-656-7271.
