The 2016 Heroes Hockey Challenge game took to the ice on Sunday at The Q Centre in Colwood.

With the familiar voice of John Ashbridge, the longtime announcer for the Vancouver Canucks, fans cheered as former Canucks and other NHL alumni faced off against the hometown heroes, made up of local stars from the Canadian Armed Forces.

Some of the NHL alumni team members included Kyle Wellwood (above), Ty Gretzky, son of hockey icon Wayne Gretzky, Garry “Iron Man” Unger (left), and Terry Bingley (below) between the pipes. Proceeds from the event went to support the Princess Patricia Canadian Light Infantry Foundation, an organization that provides supports for former service members and their families.
