Grizzlies look to halt BCHL losing skid

West Shore hockey team 7-5 in the new year after winning seven straight

Having lost five straight since peeling off a seven-game win streak to start 2016, the Victoria Grizzlies are anxious to get back on the winning track with eight games left on their B.C. Hockey League schedule.

Coming off a 4-1 loss to the Kings in Powell River on Tuesday, the Grizzlies (21-25-4-0) find themselves just two points up on fifth place Alberni Valley in the Island Division as they prepare to host the Merritt Centennials (19-27-4-1) at The Q Centre on Saturday night (Feb. 13, 7 p.m. puck drop).

For hockey lovers, the Grizzlies also host a Valentine’s Day game on Sunday against Chilliwack, starting at 2 p.m. Five of Victoria’s last six games after that are on the road.

Against the Kings on Tuesday, P.J. Conlon scored his 20th goal of the season in a losing cause for the Grizzlies, who never led and were outshot 36-30.
