Members of Team Canada's rugby team will soon have a new training centre at their Langford headquarters.

Work is set to begin on the new Rugby Canada training centre in Langford.

Mike Leskiw, manager of parks and recreation for the City of Langford, confirmed that Verity Construction will be on site next week to start laying the foundation.

The High Performance Training Centre will include 19,000 square feet of space in a two-storey facility that includes a 7,000 sq. ft. gym, a therapy clinic, recovery and stretching rooms, dressing rooms, a kitchen and lounge area, office and meeting rooms and six one-bedroom units.

The $7.8 million project, announced in 2013, will also include the Canada Rugby Hall of Fame. The project is expected to be completed by September 2017.

A live webcam will update the progress of construction regularly on the City’s website at cityoflangford.ca.
