Chargers in volleyball semifinals Friday night

The Camosun Chargers will face the Titans de Limoilou in the CCAA men’s volleyball semifinal on Friday for a spot in the gold medal final.

Match time for the Chargers is 8 p.m. at the Pacific Institute for Sports Excellence Friday. The Geants de Sait Jean face the Fanshawe Falcons in the other semifinal, starting at 6 p.m. at PISE.

Charger Jerome Cross was a one-man wrecking crew and ‘player of the match’ in Thursday’s opener as he made an impressive 20 kills and had a pair of blocks to lead the Chargers to a three-set sweep over the ACAC’s Keyano Huskies, 25-21, 25-23 and 25-14.

The 2017-finalist Titans (Quebec) dispatched the St. Thomas Tommies (New Brunswick) 25-18, 25-21 and 25-16, Cegep Saint-Jean Sur-Richelieu Geants swept the SAIT Trojans 25-23, 25-20 and 25-21, and the Ontario champion Fanshawe Falcons played a back-and-forth five-set match to defeat the V.I. Mariners 26-24, 16-25, 19-25, 25-23 and 15-10 for Fanshawe.
