Bulldogs in tough at volleyball provincials

Belmont boys put up a valiant effort against B.C.'s top teams

Belmont’s senior boys volleyball team had a rough time at the B.C. high school boys AAA provincial championships at the Langley Events Centre last week.

The Bulldogs went 0-3 in round robin play on Wednesday, losing in three sets to Riverside (12-25, 25-21, 13-15) of Port Coquitlam, 3-0 (22-25, 20-25, 12-15) to North Peace from Fort St. John and two straight (17-25, 23-25) to Prince George secondary.

Relegated to the consolation round, Belmont went on to lose 3-0 (13-25, 9-25, 10-25) to Surrey Christian to finish 19th.

The Oak Bay Barbers captured their fourth provincial title with a thrilling five-set victory (20-25, 25-11, 25-23, 21-25, 15-9) over Mount Boucherie of Kelowna.
