The Belmont senior girls basketball team had a strong finish to their season but ultimately failed to qualify for a spot at the provincial championships in March.
Up against the number one ranked north Island team, Nanaimo’s Dover Bay, the players fought hard in what their coaches said was their best game of the season. But when the final buzzer sounded they were down 58-49 and ended the tournament with a fifth place finish.
Led by five graduating players and joined by three exchange students the team’s coaches said they are incredibly proud.
