Tree protection lacking in Langford

On Friday March 11 in the 3400 block of Happy Valley Road, 100 year old, beautiful, healthy Douglas fir triplets were destroyed forever with no apparent reason.

What a shame and how sad that such a lovely landmark is now gone. There can be no satisfactory explanation for this unspeakable act.

Why do we not have anyway of protecting these large, heritage trees here in Langford the way they do in our neighbouring municipalities?

Is this a fitting way to celebrate the International Year of Forests? I think not.
