School not at fault for rat problem

Residents need to take into account other factors for rat population explosion

Re: Rats near school concern Colwood woman (Gazette, Feb. 1)

Rats and rodents live everywhere, whether people are aware of them or not. Our Langford neighbourhood has battled them years. I have caught four around our deck since last spring.

I would never blame a neighbour for these wild animals coming into my yard or trying to get into my warm house.

I am appalled that someone would demand our already financially strapped local school district to flip their pest control bill.

The school was not negligent in their renovations and are not at fault here.

If you are worried about costs, Home Depot sells rat traps for $5.98 apiece, or a cat also works great.

So come on, be a responsible homeowner and deal with your problem on your property. Or move.
