Letter: Politicians aren’t willing to stick their necks out for speed cameras

Re: CRD seeking input on point-to-point cameras on Malahat (Gazette, Feb. 23)

“B.C. Solicitor General Mike Farnworth said he’s willing to consider testing the cameras on the Malahat, but only if there’s public support for such a trial.”

Why then do we need politicians and heads of ministry to make intelligent, common sense decisions on our behalf? So much could be saved by getting rid of all of those who were elected to represent the citizenry and make hard decisions. Much easier and probably less expensive overall to have mini surveys and pollings and let some department head make the decision and write the legislation.

It’s okay Mike, the speeders who rule the roost on our highways will ensure there is enough ‘no’ feedback so that your political future is safe and you do not have to stick your neck out.
