Wow, 13 mayors implore the provincial government to get train traffic to move people on the existing tracks from Langford to Esquimalt quickly.

I sincerely hope, that they replace the rotten rail ties (most of them), raise the track for new ballast (for drainage) and probably replace most, if not all, of the track to bring it up to passenger standards. Also, a siding is required to allow trains to pass so you can run them in both directions to move more people per hour. These are not high speed tracks.

I understand the nostalgia of trains, I worked for the CPR. Do we know the cost of the work for the above? Given the right of way is not ceded to the province, will trains be required to run on steel tracks?

A monorail is faster, easier and quieter to maintain. Maybe the 13 mayors would like to join the 21st century and have a vision for the future, instead the nostalgia of the past.
