I was at the Leadership in Innovation conference with the prime minister last week and one of the exhibits was presenting waste recovery solutions. It wasn’t innovative because it is already prolific in Europe. I asked if they could treat all waste, even sewage, and they said yes. The ability to deal with both domestic, organic, recyclables, sewage waste and landfill recovery in one spot must have some merit, with the outcome being energy production. The company was Swiss (diesoil.eu). It’s not clear if the municipal governments are thinking systemically or within silos when it comes to long term benefits of integrated systems.
