Beefs and Bouquets for Sept. 16

BEEF: To the Malahat Skywalk. The Skywalk, just off the Trans Canada Highway, is a new modernistic, breathtaking, and majestic outdoor experience on Vancouver Island. However, the Skywalk offers one shortcoming. There is no problem reaching the entrance to the Skywalk driving south on the Trans Canada Highway from Victoria. However, you must turn right (north) onto the Trans Canada Highway and drive to the nearest U-turn available at Butterfield Road, for the turn to make your way back to Victoria. That U-turn north is seven kilometers away, adding an extra 14 km to your commute. First-time travellers to the Skywalk should be aware of this.

BOUQUET: A beautiful autumn bouquet tied with a ribbon to Dr. Alhaddad and the wonderful staff at Westwind Medical Centre. I recently visited and I was very comforted and relaxed by the friendliness and professional demeanor of all the staff. The medical centre was sparkling clean, everything was well organized and the doctor I saw genuinely listened to my concerns, put me at ease, and came up with a treatment plan that suited me perfectly. Thank you all for your dedication and hard work, you make Langford a better place!

BEEF: I have a big beef with some of the drivers in the Highlands. Wow, what is your hurry? You speed, you tail-gate and flick your bright lights when you are on my bumper. Chill out, this is such a beautiful place to live. Do you even appreciate it? I am so glad I do not drive like that, some people need to slow down and appreciate the beauty of life in the Highlands.

BOUQUET: I would like to sincerely thank everyone that kindly helped me when I needed it after my medical emergency and accident at Sooke and Aldeane Roads on Sept. 2. To Paul, who kept me calm, and to Denise, who called 911, both of whom kindly phoned my husband and stayed with me until the paramedics arrived and transported me to hospital. Also a big thank you to the Colwood Fire Department, paramedics and the RCMP for their prompt and professional service. We are so fortunate to have all of you when needed. To all the others who offered their kind and helpful assistance, I am truly grateful.
