Geordie Douglas, deputy fire chief of CFB Esquimalt Fire Rescue, says a small four-man crew is still on scene looking for hot-spots and monitoring flareups. According to Douglas the cause of the fire is unknown and crews may never know what caused it, adding an investigation can’t be conducted until crews are finished monitoring.

“Crews worked very well together, we had awesome support from surrounding agencies,” says Douglas.

At approximately 9 p.m. Monday, MLA Lana Popham announced on Twitter the fire — located towards the Willis Point Area — was under control, adding that the blaze had affected 1.5 hectares of land.
