West Shore RCMP are investigating the stabbing of a 21-year-old male on Station Ave.

BC Ambulance service responded to a call to Station Ave. near Jacklin Rd where they attended to an injured male with a stab wound to his leg. West Shore RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Kathy Rochlitz said the male was transported to hospital where he was listed in critical condition.

"At this point the victim is in surgery, our investigation is in its infancy, so there are still a number of pieces of this investigation that we have to continue with," Rochlitz said. "As any further information is learned we will share it with the media and the public."

Investigators remained on the scene taping off large sections of the gravel parking area along Station Ave. near Jacklin Rd. with one lane of traffic going either way. Rochlitz said there is a possibility the investigation could go through the night and urged the public to avoid the use of Station Ave.

"That scene may get held over night which may further impede our traffic concerns come morning," she said. "We encourage the public to bear with us, we want to make sure we look at all avenue in these types of situations."

Investigators received information from witnesses that the victim may have exited a late 1990 model, dark blue sports utility vehicle (SUV) and are looking to speak to the driver of the vehicle. Anyone else who may have been near Jacklin Rd. and Station Ave. at approximate 5:15 p.m. is asked to contact police at 250-474-2264.
