West Shore RCMP have arrested one suspect after officers responded to a report of an assault and blocked off an area of Walfred Road in Langford.

The West Shore RCMP responded to a report at a residence near the 700-block of Walfred Road Feb.25.

In a statement, the West Shore RCMP said officers responded immediately, however the suspect fled prior to police arrival. Police believed the suspect may be in possession of a firearm.

“There was a heavy police presence in this area as officers set up containment to track the suspect,” police said in the statement. “West Shore RCMP officers along with officers from the Emergency Police Response Team, West Shore Police Dog Service and Air support from RCMP Air 1, worked together to locate the suspect.”

The suspect remains in custody and an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
