A weekend of dry weather is expected to keep Sooke at “high danger” of fire.

Small campfires, two feet in diameter in a contained ring, are still permitted 10 feet away from any combustible material, and 20 feet from fences, structures and property lines, according to Sooke Fire Rescue in a Facebook post.

The situation can change quickly with the summer season expected to be very dry with little precipitation.

“Once we get to [extreme danger], we will advise the public that all open air fires are prohibited,” fire officials said.
