Council has approved the signing of a new five-year agreement between View Royal Fire Rescue and the Colwood Fire Department.
The previous agreement that the two departments would provide emergency operation services in each other’s jurisdiction, when requested, had expired Nov. 30.
The new deal will expire Nov. 30, 2021.
View Royal recently signed on to a separate mutual aid agreement with the Saanich, Esquimalt, Central Saanich and Oak Bay fire departments, but the partnership with Colwood is its primary one for ongoing operations.
