Over two days the Victoria Police Department arrested two men who were carrying replica handguns, which police say were difficult to differentiate from real weapons.

On Saturday March 2, police noticed a man riding a bicycle with his face covered and without a helmet on Bridge Street near Ellice street. When they stopped the man to speak with him they noticed a bulge in his waistband. When the officers asked about the bulge, the man produced a life-like replica gun. The man also had a can of bear spray, a knife, cash and drugs on him when officers arrested him.

The next day, patrol officers were called to Yates Street near Blanshard Street around 2:00 a.m. after a man was reported walking with a gun.

Officer located the man and arrested him after finding a fake gun on him. The man is known to police.

Neither arrest had any further incident.
