Victoria driver stopped by passerby after losing control

Victoria Police recommend eight charges including impaired driving.

Victoria Police are recommending charges after a man allegedly lost control of his vehicle while under the influence on Saturday night.

According to Cst. Matt Rutherford, the man was driving north on Tyee Road before making a left turn onto Wilson Street and losing control of his vehicle.

The driver allegedly fled the scene but was stopped by passersby and Victoria Police arrived on scene to arrest him.

The charges being recommended by police are driving while impaired, failing to stop at the scene of the accident, failure to comply with probation order, two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, driving while disqualified, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and failure to comply with undertaking.

The suspect is scheduled to appear before a telebail hearing today.
