Owner had been looking for ‘Tonka’ since Friday night

A three-year-old iguana has been safely located in Oak Bay.

‘Tonka’ was reported missing near Granite Street and Foul Bay Road Friday night according to organization ROAM (Reuniting Owners with Animals Missing) – which posted a picture of the lizard on behalf of owner Angie Rose.

“He is my baby and hope we can find him,” said Rose on ROAM’s Facebook post. “If searching, bring a towel or even a jacket and cover his head then he won’t panic. He is friendly but probably stressed.”

On Sunday morning, Rose said Tonka was “safe and warming up.”

“Thank you everyone we are so happy to have him home safe,” she said.

ROAM posted that Tonka was found safe in a warm dryer vent.
