Unmanned aircraft approved for Langford Fire Rescue

Women's Auxiliary paying cost of drone for department

At Monday’s meeting, Langford council voted to approve the purchase of an unmanned aircraft system for use by Langford Fire Rescue.

Coun. Lillian Szpak expressed the  appreciation of council to the Langford Firefighter’s Women’s Auxiliary, who offered to cover the $5,000 cost of the new equipment once the purchase was approved.

The $2,750 training component of the new equipment is covered by the department’s training budget.
