Two youths arrested, charged after baton brandished on bus in Colwood

Suspects had previous conditions prohibiting them from having contact with each other

A pair of youths were arrested Wednesday (May 10) after police were called to a reported disturbance on a BC Transit bus in Colwood.

Police said the call came in around 8:15 p.m. while the bus was on Ocean Boulevard. Responding to the scene, officers learned two suspects were causing a disturbance on the bus making threats to passengers.

Police were told one of the youths brandished a baton when confronted by another passenger.

Both suspects were located by police and were arrested. After the arrest, police learned the suspects were already on an undertaking not to possess weapons or be in direct contact with each other as a result of previous investigations by police.

One of the youths was charged with possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes and two counts of breaching an undertaking, while the other was charged with one count of breaching an undertaking.

Both were later released from custody by the courts.

No passengers on the bus were injured during the incident.
