There have been reports of valuables taken from cars parked in Sidney over the weekend, with the latest reported incident happening on Courser Drive.
Local law enforcement noted there has been a dramatic increase in auto break-ins recently.
“Investigations are ongoing but I can confirm that, this far, all targeted vehicles were unlocked. We advise residents to lock their vehicles and remove all valuables,” said Const. Meighan de Pass of the Sidney/North Saanich RCMP.
The number of break-ins will be announced soon as part of an upcoming initiative aimed at reducing vehicle crime.
The RCMP have partnered with Crime Stoppers for the initiative and it will be launched later this week.
