Teen arrested for mugging at West Shore mall

Two young boys are alleged to have been robbed by two teenagers in the area of Westshore Town Centre Wednesday afternoon.

Two teen boys were robbed by two teenagers in the area of Westshore Town Centre Wednesday afternoon, West Shore RCMP say.

RCMP confirmed one underage male has been arrested and charged with robbery and uttering threats. Police are aware of the identify of a second male suspect and are still investigating, said Sgt. Max Fossum.

Fossum said a boy was robbed of his IPhone in the mall area, but couldn’t provide details of the incident. The precise ages of the boys involved weren’t available, but all are considered minors.

Wednesday night a parent posted on an online forum that two young boys were badly traumatized after being threatened and then robbed by two youths wielding a knife and baseball bat.

The parent told the Gazette her boys were robbed of an IPhone and bus pass on the sidewalk on Jacklin Road at 5:30 p.m. by two older teens, a few minutes before she planned to pick them up near Tim Hortons.

The same suspects harassed and robbed another teen that night, she said, behind the Cineplex movie theatre. She requested anonymity, fearing for the safety of her boys.

"Kids should stay in groups together and no be lured away," she said. "And I think Langford should have more to do for teens."
